More about W. Barclay Rushton
As a CPA and the head of one of the region’s busiest accounting firms, Barclay plans his time strategically. Which, of course, is the same way you plan your time as a business owner and/or manager. That means when he’s not in his own office, he is often in the offices of his clients, in strategic planning.
Whether he’s involved in estate planning, business valuation or tax issues, Barclay has spent over 40 years focusing on saving clients money and helping them grow their businesses.
Barclay also holds certification as a Personal Financial Specialist (PFS), providing expertise in estate, tax, retirement, risk management and investment planning. He holds memberships in numerous professional organizations including Northeast Georgia Society of CPAs, Georgia Society of CPAs, American Institute of CPAs and National Association of Valuation Analysis. Still, he manages to stay active in community affairs, including faithful membership in Gainesville’s First United Methodist Church.
A Personal Glimpse
If you overhear Barclay Rushton talking about cycles, it just might not be business cycles on his mind. He’s an avid mountain biker who tries to get out on North Georgia’s mountain trails about twice a week in good weather. And even sometimes in not so good weather. Having acquainted his daughter with the sport at an early age, she now rides with her husband – and with Dad when everyone can get together.
When he’s not mountain biking or, during business hours working with physicians and medical practices (among his specialties), Barclay also enjoys Civil War history. It may have been his first sight of a re-enactment at Kennesaw Mountain Battlefield that sparked his interest, but since boyhood, he has become somewhat of an expert on the War Between the States. That interest turned very personal when Barclay discovered he had ancestors on both sides of that tragic conflict. In his spare time, he’s a respected cattle farmer.
As often as twice a week, Barclay cycles through North Georgia’s mountain trails whenever possible. He also has a passion for Civil War history.
