GAINESVILLE, Ga. (June 2023) – Rushton, one of Northeast Georgia’s largest business accounting and consulting firms, has named Quatation Waller and Hugo McCoy as its 2023 Educational Scholarship Award winners.
The scholarship fund supports promising college students pursuing their degree in accounting.
Waller of Flowery Branch and McCoy of Griffin received a one-time $1,000 award that is applied to their tuition and education-related expenses.
“Rushton believes in philanthropy and the importance of investing in our next generation,” said Chris Hollifield, Rushton’s managing partner. “These scholarships are the fruit of that belief, as we provide support to students pursuing their educational dreams.”
Waller, who is an accounting major at the University of North Georgia with a 3.5 grade point average, served eight years in the Marines and held the rank of Sergeant. She is a member of the Beta Club, National Society of Leadership and Success, McNair Scholar Program, Tau Sigma Honor Society, Alpha Alpha Alpha Honor Society, and Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society. Waller interned at Mansfield Oil and volunteers at the Georgia Mountain Food Bank.
McCoy is a University of North Georgia accounting major and holds a 3.8 grade point average. He is a member of the Beta Club, Beta Gamma Sigma Honor Society, Investment Club and Beta Alpha Psi Honor Society.
The Rushton scholarship is administered by the North Georgia Community Foundation and runs through their annual scholarship cycle. To be eligible for the award, applicants are required to be a full-time rising junior or senior college student pursuing a degree in accounting at a public or private college or university in Georgia and maintaining a minimum of a 3.0 GPA. The applicant’s extracurricular activities are also considered.
