GAINESVILLE, Ga. (Aug. 2023)— Rushton Managing Partner Chris Hollifield, a long-time Hall-Dawson CASA board member, received the 2023 CASA Board Member Leadership Award in Georgia at the Georgia CASA Conference on Aug. 12.
Hollifield has been an active member of the Hall-Dawson CASA Board for 16 years. He was Board Chair in 2021-22 and previously served as Treasurer.
When Hollifield took over as Board Chair, Hall-Dawson CASA was undergoing many changes. Executive Director Janet Walden says she appreciated his leadership and knew he was the right person to guide them during an important time.
“When Chris became our Board Chair about three years ago, we had a lot of change going on in our organization,” Walden said. “He is the kind of leader that could make sure those changes stuck, and we needed that leadership to help us continue that trajectory that we were on. I knew he was the person that could take us there.”
Hollifield has worked tirelessly to support the growth of Hall-Dawson CASA and aim towards its mission to provide trained, screened, and supervised volunteers to advocate for the best interests of abused or neglected children requiring court intervention.
“The reason I serve CASA is the impact that CASA makes in a child’s life,” Hollifield said. “We tell their story when no one will listen. In their world we are the adult in their corner who will speak up for their best interest. My wife and I once had an opportunity to foster two boys for a short time and I saw first-hand what some children have to go through and the difference a CASA can make.”
Hall-Dawson CASA’s mission is to assist children experiencing foster care because of abuse or neglect have the right to a safe placement and permanent home. CASA provides trained, screened, and supervised volunteers to advocate for the best interests of abused and neglected children requiring court intervention.
