The goal of the Work-Based Learning Program is to assist in providing a highly trained, technologically sophisticated and career-oriented young work force. The program develops partnerships between business, industry, students, parents, school systems, coordinators, and post-secondary institutions which will lead the participating student into meaningful careers.

“I am so proud of Gracie and all she has learned and accomplished this year interning at Rushton through the Chestatee High Work-Based Learning Program. She has developed soft and hard skills that will make her more employable in her future and she has had the opportunity to network with people in the “real-world”. This program allows our students to build their resume and explore career options. Chestatee High WBL Program is very appreciative to the staff of Rushton for allowing Gracie this opportunity and mentoring her along the way. She went through an interview process, submitted a resume and was hired as an intern. Experiencing that process as a senior in high school has equipped her in more ways than one for her future and that is what this program is all about,” said Holli Howard, Career Education Specialist at Chestatee High School.

Norrell plans to attend Lanier Technical College after graduation. She said she has enjoyed working at Rushton because there is always something new to learn and everyone is always willing to help each other.

She loves watching sports and enjoys hiking, kayaking, or exploring new places. Her favorite types of music are country and rap, but she enjoys listening to all genres of music.

“Gracie has been a big help to the firm, especially during our busy tax season. She is always willing to help out in any way and completes tasks quickly. We have greatly benefitted from Gracie and our partnership with the Work-Based Learning Program. The program is really a win-win for businesses and students,” said Cindy Campbell, Firm Administrator.
