John is Audit Manager at Rushton & Company, and Director of Quality Control, supervising and performing audits, while maintaining assurance of audit quality, meeting high standards and regulatory compliance.
He is a member of the Georgia Society of CPAs, an at-large member in GSCPA’s Leadership Council, a member of that organization’s Professional Ethics Committee and a member of the Hall County Habitat for Humanity Board of Directors.
Of his Habitat involvement, John says he likes the fact that the focus of the mission is giving people a “hand up” rather than just a hand-out. “Recipients of Habitat homes participate in the project and actually pay the mortgage. They earn their homes,” he says.
He is a graduate of the University of Georgia, with a BBA and Masters degree in Accounting.
A Personal Glimpse
John tends to think his life is pretty normal. But see if you think this is routine: he spent six years in the Army, traveled over Europe playing tuba with the Army band, met his wife, Susan, in Germany, married her in Denmark, worked as a correctional officer, played in the UGA Redcoat Band, graduated with a BBA and MA in Accounting, became a CPA and a Certified Fraud Examiner, has worked at Rushton for ten years, reared two fine children and has been happily married for 25 years.
How might he top that?
"I'd play golf every day if I could," he says wistfully. But the fact is, he has little time for that and reading, his other much loved pastime. John and his wife are members of the First United Methodist Church in Athens, Ga, the town he calls his "adopted hometown."
